PAST/BIO: Charlie was born to a military family in America who moved around a lot when she was younger. She was always a tomboy, and usually managed to beat up any kid who said her 'boy's name' suited her. She was also a bit of a troublemaker, as she figured she couldn't get expelled from school if they were going to move away in a few weeks anyway. But when her mother died, it got a lot worse. It was so bad that her older brother had to take over her schooling and so she was home schooled.

When she was eighteen, she carried on her family tradition and joined the U.S. Airforce, first as a pilot. She moved up in the ranks at a steady pace, finding that she enjoyed the military environment. When she was 23, she happened upon a British Police Box that disappeared shortly after her sighting it. She told some of her fellow Officers, and was soon speaking with the head of Area 51. Within months, she was transferred to a place known as Torchwood Four in Cardiff, Wales.

She started off low on the team there, mainly as a U.S. liaison, but was soon named leader after the original leader retired. She headed the team for a few years until the one day where the base and her team disappeared. She was devastated, because the team had been so close and they were like family to her and so she retired to a life that was washed away by alcohol. It wasn't until a couple of years later that she heard from Torchwood again, and was convinced to head the newly re-established Torchwood Four, something she doesn't think she's entirely suited to do anymore.
